Added Security May Not Reduce Insurance Premiums |
|
(23rd July 2008)
Bolstering car and household security may not lead to a reduction in insurance premiums, a comparison site has discovered.
According to Tescocompare.com, adding an alarm to a property will only reduce annual insurance.com" title="" target="_parent">home insurance premiums by an average of £5 while a car alarm will provide average insurance.com" title="" target="_parent">car insurance savings of £1.70 each year.
"Installing alarms to your property or car will no doubt go some way to offering you peace of mind, but if you are planning on saving money on your insurance premiums you should make sure you check your options first," advises Paul Baxter, director of commercial and partnerships at the website.
The Insurance Information Institute recently urged consumers to implement measures for when they are away on holiday that will make it more time consuming for a burglar to break into their homes.
Dead-bolting windows and locking doors, which must fit their frames securely, were measures recommended by the organisation.
