Holiday Finances Go Mobile |
|
(4th August 2008)
A new service giving Brits the ability to access bank account information and buy foreign currency abroad on their mobile has been launched by a currency exchange firm. The mobile exchange service allows holidaymakers to check their bank balance and exchange money at a competitive rates by text message. People can top-up their finances with the firm's chip-and-pin pre-paid MasterCard debit card and spend the money anywhere that offers chip-and-pin as a method of payment. Chief executive of Fair FX Stephen Heath said: "This is the easiest way for people to manage their money abroad. "Now, wherever people are in the world they can find out how much cash they have left to spend." Fair FX claims it can keep its rates competitive as it eliminates the need for exchange bureaus. It's mobile top-up service will be free of charge until the end of August when the company will start charging ten pence for every text message sent.
